Octavia Pickett-Blakely, MD, MHS is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
Dr. Pickett-Blakely completed GI and Hepatology fellowship training at Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as a Master of Health Science degree in Clinical Investigation at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
As a clinician, educator, and clinical researcher, Dr. Pickett-Blakely’s area of expertise is gastrointestinal disease –related nutrition and gastrointestinal complications of obesity. Dr. Pickett-Blakely developed and directs the Penn Center for GI Nutrition at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine. She leads studies exploring the relationship between obesity and gastrointestinal disease and clinical trials in other nutritional GI diseases like celiac disease and intestinal failure. She merges her clinical expertise with her passion for educating patients and future generations of physicians about the importance of nutrition in disease prevention and management.
