Anna M. Buchner, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.
She graduated from the Medical University of Wrocław in Poland. Dr. Buchner completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She then pursued fellowships in gastroenterology at Mayo Clinic Florida and in hepatology at the University of Miami. Additionally, she completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her primary research areas focus on colorectal cancer prevention, the endoscopic management of dysplasia in both average-risk patients and those with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), advanced imaging techniques in IBD, and the epidemiology of gastrointestinal diseases, including IBD.
Dr. Buchner is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). She has recently served on the AGA Clinical Practice Update Committee.
