Training in Ergonomic Endoscopy: Creating and Maintaining a Workforce Built to Last

As GI physicians increase their endoscopy volumes, they are placed at increased risk of injury. A scientific discipline is emerging to attempt to describe the extent of this program, to identify the driving forces, and to investigate and promote ways of mitigating injuries in GI physicians, ergonomic considerations in training, and injury prevention/mitigation strategies from layout of the procedure suite to endoscope design.
