Gastroenterology is one of the highest anticipated shortages among medical subspecialties in the coming years. The reasons are multifaceted: retirement of existing practicing physicians, an aging population with a higher life expectancy, and limited training of new gastroenterologists in the setting of increasing patient demand. This Clinical Symposium will discuss these challenges and provide tangible methods in which to mitigate this issue, namely retention and recruitment efforts for early, mid, and late career gastroenterologists.
