Clinical guidelines increasingly rely on technical reviews of evidence using a range of methods. These are often very similar and yet guidelines in North America, Canada, Europe and the rest of the globe can vary greatly. In this session, we will consider recently published guidelines, with examples from the USA, UK and Europe and discuss key changes in this substantial body of updated guidelines. We will discuss areas of convergence and divergence in practice recommendations and demonstrate how the GRADE approach to guidelines supports such variability in recommendations.
