ROBOTIC TRANSANAL MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY (TAMIS) FOR RECTAL ADENOCARCINOMA

Date
May 18, 2024

We present a case of early rectum adenocarcinoma treated with robot-assisted TAMIS. A 59-year-old female patient underwent a colonoscopy, which identified a rectal LST, with 35 mm and 10 cm from the anal verge. Biopsy resulted in adenocarcinoma. No signs of metastasis were found in the staging tomographic. Pelvic MRI showed a polypoid T1/T2N0 tumor with no signs of lymphatic dissemination. A robotic transanal excision was performed using the Da Vinci Xi platform. The postoperative course was uneventful. Surgical specimen examination showed an intra-mucosal adenocarcinoma with free margins.
