Lipids are a key component of intestinal homeostasis, including roles in energy storage, as source of energy, as essential component of the cell membrane, and as chemical messengers. This session will explore the role of lipids in mediating intestinal health and diseases such as colitis and tumorigenesis. Regulation of lipid absorption, metabolism, and storage by the gut microbiota and potential therapeutic targeting of these lipid processes will also be discussed.
