Effecting Change: Applying Culture Change Strategies to your Everyday Practice

SOCIETY: AGA Culture change is a significant challenge to any team but is a particular challenge within medicine. Personal behaviors, clinical practice, and modalities of education can become entrenched in our community to the detriment of trainees, colleagues, and patient care. The ability to successfully change culture takes a dedicated effort and considerable skill. This session aims to provide a toolkit for providers looking to change the culture of their medical community. The session will first review culture change theory and successful tips and strategies to be an agent of change. Following this introduction, three real-life scenarios within clinical practice, medical education, and team development will be utilized to demonstrate how these tools of culture change can be utilized in real life settings.
