This session will provide an in-depth look at the current understanding of the mucosal-associated microbiome along the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, focusing on how microbiota interact with the intestinal mucosa and alter local inflammation. Presentations will cover topics such as Bifidobacterium metabolites bolstering the mucus layer, bacterial sensing and utilization of intestinal mucus, and the roles of the gut microbiome and metabolome in the therapeutic efficacy of exclusive enteral nutrition for Crohn’s disease.
