Gathering evidence suggests that communication between the gut and brain plays a major role in health and disease. However, our understanding of the mechanisms underlying gut-brain communication is a major unresolved field of neurogastroenterology. This session will provide major new insights into how ingested contents within the gut wall communicate with extrinsic sensory nerves, that communicate with the brain and how these sensory nerve pathways regulate our health and well being.
