Dr. Shounak Majumder is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is a Mayo-trained gastroenterologist and medical pancreatologist. Dr. Majumder’s clinical expertise is in the management of a broad spectrum of complex benign and neoplastic pancreatic diseases. He led the launch of a pancreatic cancer screening clinic at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He currently directs the Mayo Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection Research Program and is the recipient of a U01 grant from the National Cancer Institute Pancreas Cancer Detection Consortium. His translational research program focuses primarily on the discovery and validation of novel molecular biomarkers and artificial intelligence based digital tools for early detection of pancreatic cancer and advanced precancer. Additionally, he is leading multiple clinical studies on chronic and autoimmune pancreatitis and fatty pancreas. Dr. Majumder has published extensively in the field of pancreatic diseases including high-impact journals like Lancet, JAMA Oncology and Gastroenterology. He currently serves as the Program Director for the Mayo Medical Pancreatology Fellowship and as Associate Chair of Innovation for the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is currently a Councilor for the Pancreatic Disorders Section of the AGA Institute Council and an editorial board member for the journals Pancreas and Pancreatology.
