
Shailja Shah

Shailja Shah, MD MPH is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Diego, and Staff Gastroenterologist at VA San Diego. Dr. Shah’s work is broadly focused on primary and secondary prevention of gastric cancer, including the implementation of gastric cancer prevention and early detection programs among high-risk populations in the United States. She is an author of several national and international clinical guidelines and position statements on the management of H. pylori and gastric premalignant conditions. Dr. Shah serves on national AGA and ACG committees. She is the recipient of the 2022 AGA Early Investigator Award in Clinical Science and holds active funding from the NCI and VA.
