Ohio State University
Dr. Phil Hart, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He serves as the Director of the Section of Pancreatic Disorders and Program Director of the Medical Pancreatology Fellowship program. Dr. Hart has interests in the areas of nutrition and metabolism in pancreatic disorders. This includes diabetes mellitus secondary to pancreatic disorders (aka, pancreatogenic or type 3c diabetes), exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, nutritional assessments and therapy, and osteoporosis (secondary to chronic pancreatitis). An overlapping area of keen interest is the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, which relates specifically to the study of new onset diabetes and other patient scenarios at high risk for developing pancreatic cancer. Dr. Hart is an NIH-funded investigator as a multi-PI for both the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes, and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC) and Type 1 Diabetes after Acute Pancreatitis Consortium (T1DAPC), and serves in multiple leadership roles for these groups.
