Neena S. Abraham, MD, MSc (Epid), MACG, FASGE, AGAF, is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic and a Consultant in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology and Health Care Policy Research. She completed her medical school training at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (1994), an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Alberta, a GI Fellowship (1999), an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship (2000), and a Post-Doctoral Research Training and Epidemiology degree at McGill University Montreal, Quebec, Canada (2000).

Dr. Abraham is the Medical Director of the CardioGastroenterology Clinic at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, which employs a multi-specialty collaborative care model to enhance clinical outcomes for cardiac patients at risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. She is the primary author of the 2022 ACG-CAG Clinical Practice Guideline: Management of Anticoagulants and Antiplatelets During Acute Gastrointestinal Bleeding and the Periendoscopic Period. Since 2008, she has authored eight national and international guidelines related to peri-endoscopic antithrombotic drug management and acute gastrointestinal bleeding. She is a clinical investigator at the intersection of Cardiology and Gastrointestinal disorders, investigating how antithrombotic drugs contribute to gastrointestinal bleeding in cardiac patients, the elderly, and highly co-morbid.

Dr. Abraham's contributions to the field of Gastroenterology have been widely recognized. Her clinical expertise was acknowledged at the 2020 ACG Annual Postgraduate Course, where she delivered the prestigious David Sun Lecture. In 2021, she was honored as the Healio & American College of Gastroenterology Disruptive Innovator in Clinical Medicine. Her leadership and clinical impact were further recognized in 2022 when she was named one of 108 Masters of the American College of Gastroenterology, becoming the eighth woman in the United States to be elevated to Master status.

She is a busy mentor and sponsor of women in gastroenterology and under-represented minority physicians nationwide. At Mayo Clinic, she is the lead faculty peer mentor for the Department of Medicine in Arizona. She is also a certified Healthcare Peer Coaching Practitioner working with physicians in the United States, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East to improve their career journeys and wellness through her company, BounceUpCoaching.
