Dr. Douglas K. Rex, MD, MASGE, is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Chancellor’s Professor at Indiana University Indianapolis, and a full-time clinical gastroenterologist at Indiana University Hospitals.
His major research interests are colorectal disease, particularly colorectal cancer screening, and the technical performance of colonoscopy.
He co-authored the colorectal cancer screening recommendations of the ACG and the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer. He also authored the recommendations on quality in colonoscopy of the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer and the ACG/ASGE. He has authored more than 350 original research papers, 65 book chapters, 240 invited papers, 75 editorials, and 45 guideline papers.
He has served in the ACG as Chairman of the Board of Governors and is a past president of the ACG. He is also a Past President of ASGE is a recipient of the Rudolph V. Schindler Award and Master Endoscopic Award from ASGE.
