
David Binion

Dr. Binion is Professor of Medicine, Clinical and Translational Science, Co-Director of the IBD Center, Director of Nutrition Support Service, and Medical Director, Intestinal Transplant at the University of Pittsburgh and UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
After undergraduate training at Harvard University, medical school at SUNY Buffalo, residency at Rhode Island Hospital, and gastroenterology training at University Hospitals of Cleveland he completed research fellowships in mucosal immunology and vascular cell biology at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
His career has focused on defining the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying human chronic gut inflammation and the translation of this knowledge into improved care for patients suffering from Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Dr. Binion is a recipient of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Premier Physician Award, and the Sherman Prize.
