Dr. Spiegel is the Dorothy and George Gourrich Chair in Digital Health Ethics at Cedars-Sinai, Founding Director of the Cedars-Sinai Master's Program in Health Systems Science, and Assistant Dean for Clinical and Translational Research in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is the immediate past Editor-in-Chief for the American Journal of Gastroenterology and inaugural Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Medical Extended Reality. Dr. Spiegel has published widely in the fields of health services research, digital health, medical extended reality (Med XR), and gastroenterology with over 300 published manuscripts. Dr. Spiegel directs the Cedars-Sinai Virtual Medicine program, a multidisciplinary team that investigates how health technologies can improve lives. He has received continuous federal funding since 2004 (NIH, VA, PCORI). His team developed one of largest medical virtual reality (VR) programs in the world, and his work contributed to defining the FDA-recognized field of Med XR.
